Vapour Tight Lighting

VCAN stocks 2 ft, 4 ft and 8 ft bodies from CSC LED and Votatec, covering roughly 24 W to 200 W. Almost everything in this category is wattage and CCT selectable, which is worth more on a vapour tight job than on most others: a garage deck, a wash bay and a cold store want different output and different colour temperature, and one selectable part number covers all three from the same box on the van.

Specifying one

Start with length, because the mounting centres usually follow the existing run. Then pick the wattage band the space needs rather than the highest available — over-lighting a garage deck wastes energy for the life of the fixture and can create glare at the ramp. Check the IP rating and the ambient temperature range against the room, particularly for cold storage, where a driver rated only to 0 °C will fail early.
