Terms of Sale
These terms apply to everything VCAN Electrical Supply Inc. sells. They are written for the way this business actually works: there is no online checkout and no price on the site, because every order is priced and confirmed by quote first.
How an order is made
You build a list on the site and send it as a quote request. Nothing is ordered, reserved or charged at that point. We reply with a quote confirming price, stock and delivery — usually within one business day. An order exists once you accept that quote in writing, by email or by replying to the quote, and not before.
Adding products to a list is not an offer we have accepted, and a quote request does not hold stock.
Quotes and pricing
A quote holds for 30 days from the date we send it, unless it says otherwise on its face. After that we will re-quote; on copper wire and cable that can move either way.
Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes, which are shown separately on the quote. Where a price on a quote is obviously wrong — a decimal in the wrong place, a line priced at a fraction of cost — we will tell you and correct it rather than hold either of us to it.
Payment
Stock orders are paid in full before the material is released, by e-transfer, cheque or card. Large orders and special orders are taken with a deposit on order and the balance due on delivery or collection; the split is set out on the quote.
Material remains the property of VCAN until it is paid for in full. Risk passes to you on delivery, or on collection from our counter.
Stock, substitution and lead times
Stock is confirmed on the quote rather than on the website. Where a line is unavailable we will offer an equivalent and say plainly that it is an equivalent — we will not substitute a different manufacturer or specification without telling you, because on an electrical job the specification is usually the point.
Lead times are confirmed on the quote. Where one line would hold up the rest, we say so and partial delivery can be arranged.

Cancellation
A stock order can be cancelled before it ships or is collected, at no charge. A special or non-stock order cannot be cancelled once we have placed it with the manufacturer, which is the reason those orders take a deposit.
Returns and warranty
Installation and suitability
We supply material. We do not design installations, and nothing on this site or in a quote is an engineering or code opinion. Electrical work in Ontario must be done by a licensed electrician and is subject to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and ESA inspection. Confirming that a product suits your installation is the responsibility of the person specifying and installing it.
Liability
Our liability on any order is limited to the price of the goods supplied. We are not liable for labour, downtime, lost work or other consequential loss. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
